Deeda's Baskets - Bloomfield, VT
I am a native Vermonter, having lived in the Northeast Kingdom all of my life. The women in my family have traditionally been artistic on some level, whether sewing, weaving, cooking, painting, or gardening to name a few. I find myself wanting to do it all, or at least making an attempt. I took a basket weaving class from a local woman about 10 years ago.
Over the years I have exhibited basketry at art shows and have sold at many craft fairs. Many of my baskets have been given as gifts, something that will last a lifetime. I use reed in various sizes and colors to create my baskets. Many of them are from patterns, although I do design my own. The beauty of a basket, is that no two are alike; each one is unique. Most of my baskets are traditional and functional, others are decorative. Each basket has a name, although many are used for something entirely different ... a laundry basket becomes a wood basket next to a fireplace or wood stove ... a gathering basket holds magazines next to your favorite chair ... a toy basket holds towels or you favorite pet's toy ... uses are endless. My name is Linda Lomasney, and I weave baskets. I hope you too, will enjoy them.
Linda will be at both of the Lupine Festival markets to demonstrate her basket making skills and sell her unique baskets. She has classes all year round, so contact her through her website to sign up for a class (I took one in last year and made a pantry basket - although I think it is perfect for the garden). In Franconia, Linda is going to have one of her students with her so you will be able to see the both of them weaving baskets.
If you would like her to make a basket for her, check out her website: Deeda's Baskets. Also check out all the artisan demonstrations at the market by clicking on this link: Demonstrations.

Mt. Crescent Crafts
Randolph, NHSara Glines has been creating hand-crafted wooden figures based on seven generations of her family's history in northern New Hampshire. Sharing and teaching others how wonderful her family's history is through art.
The figures represent a moment in time of a real person in the Boothman Sisters’ family. Spanning seven generations in Northern New Hampshire, personalities of farmers and woodsmen, builders of hiking trails and mountain huts, hotel proprietors, homemakers, carpenters, and photographers, are handcrafted for your enjoyment. Currently there are 19 in the collection with more to come as the stories emerge from researching our family’s history. All figures are limited editions. Only 200 of each personality will be sold, and each is signed, numbered and comes with “Our Story.” Accessories are sold separately.
Sara will also have Christmas ornaments and mini quilts for sale at her table. Stop by and watch as she demonstrates the creation of mini baskets to accompany the figurines, along with carving faces and hands. Sara will be inside the Sugar Hill Meetinghouse on June 11-12, on Saturday, June 18; she will be on the porch of the Franconia Heritage Museum (that's a great stop, too), on Sunday, June 19 - she will be at the Franconia Market under the large tent of Dow Field.Sara is member of NH-made and also has a fascinating website: www.ravinehousestore.com. R & R Woodworkers - Jackson, NH
Robin & Robert came last year to the festival for the first time and are returning this year on Sunday, June 19th at the Franconia Lupine Festival Market. They design and handcraft their own exceptionally comfortable Cedar Adirondack Furniture. Besides furniture, they are bringing a few birdhouses; natural cedar and artistically painted. They also have some ski chairs.
Bob, a former carpenter/builder, enjoys making furniture with his own personal touch. Robin uses her organizational skills through networking, marketing, phone contacts, as well as doing the drilling and sanding. R&R Woodworkers uses northern white CEDAR in all their products. Northern white cedar is naturally resistant to moisture, decay, and insects. Some customers choose to allow their furniture to weather. Left natural, cedar will turn a silvery gray patina. Any oil meant to be used on cedar (usually linseed based) will protect the wood and preserve the color. Other customers stain or oil their pieces. Please do not use polyurethane or a water sealer on raw cedar. The furniture is quite heavy and extremely durable as they use 1" stock with stainless steel screws. The Large chair weighs 30 pounds. Our pieces are also available artistically painted. Take the time to explore their website: www,randrwoodworkers.com, They will be at the Lupine Festival Market on Sunday, June 19th, only . . . so don't miss the chance to try some of the “most comfortable wooden furniture" that is also "Fox approved"!
Crosstown Motors - Littleton, NH
Littleton Chevrolet - Littleton, NH
Last year Crosstown Motors and Littleton Chevrolet were very generous sponsors of our Lupine Festival Concerts and are one of the most generous sponsors again this year.We welcome them to the market with a few of their vehicles with you can see what their local dealerships have to offer.
Please stop by their tent and thank them for being one of the sponsors of our Festival Concerts. Their support was key this year to keeping music at our concerts. My family has been buying vehicles from them for several years and last year I used the lupine coupon discount they offered to assist me in buying a Jeep Patriot from Crosstown motors.
A few years ago, a friend of mine couldn't find the car she wanted and she'd been searching for a year so I asked Tim (who is Tom & Ronney's current used car buyer at the auctions) to find just want Linda wanted. Tim found it - Linda liked the price and e-mail photos; so she purchased the vehicle (without seeing it in person) and I drove it to Pennsylvania where Linda was waiting to drive it back to Ohio (A friend drove Linda to PA and then drove me home to NH).
Littleton Chevrolet Buick Pontiac is your local North Country (and Lancaster Chevrolet) dealer with new and used Chevrolet and Buick cars and trucks. Crosstown Motors carries Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep.
Sunset Hill House
Sugar Hill, New HampshireSunset Hill House has been a fixture of Sugar Hill for over 125 years. Fantastic views, more history than can be experienced in a weekend, and delicious food. Innkeepers, Nancy & Lon Henderson, have owned the Inn for 10 years now and have continued the wonderful tradition of providing visitors with an outstanding stay in Sugar Hill. This year they are going to come to the Lupine Festival Market and serve lunch entrees. Nancy sent me an e-mail saying that they would be bringing gourmet sandwiches, last year the sandwiches were more than a sandwich!!
Look for them at both markets this year.. . . But you don't have to wait for market days. Each day of the Lupine Festival, they are offering a historic Inn Tour at 1 pm with afternoon tea and cookies and it's free. Also if you have a Lupine Festival Tour Book, they are giving discounts in their casual New Hampshire Tavern (or dine on the deck) and also discounts in their award-winning restaurant.
